How to Play

Play Zodiac Mahjong online for free. Zodiac Mahjong replaces the standard Mahjong Solitaire stones with images of constellations and the symbols of the Zodiac. Pair identical stones to remove them from the stack. Clear the entire stack before the level's timer runs out & play through 300 challenging levels. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
Select Help to learn the game’s rules.
Select High Scores to view the game’s leaderboard.
Select the gear button to open the following controls:
- Use the speaker and music buttons to turn the game’s sound on and off.
- Use Reset to clear your game progress.
- Use the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen to choose the game’s language.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

      - Tap on the stones with your fingers to select them.
      - Controls and indicators
        The game’s controls and indicators are located at the right side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
        Box
        Level number
        Level score
        Level timer
        First row, left to right:
        Hint button
        Shuffle button
        Second row, left to right:
        Pause button
        Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full-screen modes
        Third row row, left to right:
        Speaker button: Turns the game’s audio effects on and off
        Music button: Turns the game’s music on and off
        On the level selection screen are the following controls:
        The game’s levels are shown as icons on the center frame.
        The center frame is composed of pages with 10 level icons each.
        The selected level will have a red outline on its score.
        On either side of the center frame are navigation buttons.
        The bottom row contains the following controls:
        Menu button: Takes you back to the welcome screen
        Your Total Score
        Play button: Starts the game from the level you selected.

        Levels
        Levels are unlocked sequentially
        Finishing one level automatically unlocks the next one.
        Select Next Level on the win screen to return you to the level selection screen.
        There are a whopping 300 levels in this game.
        You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
        Basic rules
        Select 2 identical stones to remove them from the stack. The stones are themed after constellations and the signs of the Western Zodiac.
        You can only pair free stones.
        Free stones have no stone above them and at least one side (left or right) without an adjacent stone.
        The game helpfully highlights the free stones.
        Clear the entire stack before the level’s timer expires.
        You start with 4 minutes and 58 seconds on the clock.
        You fail the level if you don’t clear all the stones in time.
        You can try again.
        You can also end your playthrough. This lets you save your score in the leaderboard.
        Scoring
        You have 2 scores in this game:
        Your level score represents your best score in the level.
        Your total score is the sum of all your level scores.
        Level score:
        Every pair of tiles you clear adds 50 points to your total score.
        After finishing, you also receive 10 bonus points for every second remaining on the timer.
        You can improve your level score by replaying the level. You can only replace your score if it is higher than your previous score.
        Your level score is shown below the level’s icon on the selection screen.
        Total score
        You can improve your total score by playing more levels or replaying earlier levels.
        Your total score is shown in the bottom center of the level selection screen.
        There are two ways to save your total score:
        Play through all 300 levels.
        End your current playthrough after a game over.
        Assistance
        You get an unlimited number of hints and shuffles.
        Selecting the hint button will show you any valid pair of tiles.
        Shuffles rearrange the stones on the stack.
        This is useful if you want to make more obvious pairs.
        The game automatically shuffles the stones for you if you run out of valid pairs.
        However, hints and manual shuffles cost points. Use them sparingly.
        Each hint costs 100 points.
        Each manual shuffle cost 200 points. Automatic shuffles are free.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Solitaire tile match games.
