How to Play

Play Moon Mahjong online for free. Moon Mahjong is a timed 15-stage celestial geometric shape themed Mahjong Solitaire game. Remove identically matching open pairs of stones & shuffle through the deck to find other matching stones to clear the board. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the Play button on the game’s welcome screen to start the game.
Near the Play button are buttons for how to play Help, High Scores, and More Games.
The lower left corner of the welcome screen has a language select dropdown.
The lower right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for sharing the game on social media and reading game developer information.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Use your mouse left click button to select a free stone & then select an identically matching free stone to remove the pair.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap the screen with a finger to select a free stone & then select an identically matching free stone to remove the pair.
    - Controls & indicators
      - The right rail of the game contains the game controls.
        At the top the game shows your current level number, cumulative game score, and remaining level time.
        Next there are 7 buttons to pause the game, undo a move, switch to full screen mode, take a hint, shuffle tiles, control game music, and control game sound.
        Game Play
        Stone matching
        Identical
        In this game you can only match identical stones which have the same value and design.
        Free
        You can only match free stones.
        A free stone is a stone which does not have a stone directly on top of it and at least one side (left or right) is free & does not have an adjacent stone.
        You can only select open stones & they appear redish when you select them.
        If the second tile you select does not match the first selected tile then the first tile is deslected.
        If the selected tiles are free (also known as open) and identically match then they are removed from the board.
        Levels
        This is a 15-stage Mahjong Solitaire game where levels are unlocked sequentially.
        You can’t replay previously beat levels without starting the game over at the first level.
        Board layout
        The first stage has 30 tiles you must clear to beat the stage.
        Tiles are arranged in fanned out formats or other unique overlapping geometric inspired shapes.
        Additional tiles
        On the first stage, near the top of the level there are 3 additional tiles dealt which you can use to make tile pairs, and a “New Tiles” stack which can be used to deal more tiles to tile stacks.
        On other stages the additional tiles section may be in the middle of the board, the bottom of the board, or in other locations.
        You can deal more tiles to the additional tile slots even if the current slots have tiles on them.
        When you use the topmost tiles the under tiles become playable.
        When each stack is clear the tile holder spot looks like a piece of wood.
        You can match additional tiles with each other, or with tiles on the board.
        If you have dealt all the additional tiles & the one you need to play is hidden under another you can reshuffle through them again.
        Level timers
        Levels give you 2:59 to clear the board.
        Scoring
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        Scoring points
        Each tile pair you match is worth 100 points.
        Each second you have remaining on the clock when a level is beat is worth 30 points.
        Spending points
        Shuffling tiles costs 300 points.
        Taking a hint costs 200 points.
        Undoing moves costs 200 points.
        Strategy
        Whenever possible try to match tiles from the game rather than the deal stack & try to start off the game by removing whichever tiles have the most tiles hidden under them so you open up the level to make many more plays available.
        Try to play quickly as your speed is the main determinant on your level score since all plays through the game have the same tile-based score (less the point expense of using any assistance tools).
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Solitaire tile match games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
