How to Play

Play Donuts online for Free. Donuts is a challenging connect-3 matching game where you must clear enough donuts of specific flavors within two minutes to unlock the next level. Each level has its own unique playing field design. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Press the bright pink donut at the center of the screen to start the game.
On the upper right corner is a settings button, where you can toggle the game’s audio.
The game automatically saves your progress into the browser.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Left click on a donut to select it and drag it to the desired location.
  - Mobile
    - Tap and flick on a donut to move it into position.
    - Game Play
      - Clear the number of donuts outlined in each level before time runs out.
        You have two minutes to clear the number of donuts mentioned at the start of the level.
        The level begins with a list of the donuts you must clear along with a quantity for each. The list also appears on the top row of the game board.
        Clearing donuts
        To clear donuts, align them to one another so that they form a horizontal or vertical row of at least three of a kind.
        If two valid rows share a single piece, it will count for both rows or columns.
        You can link up to five donuts together in a single move. Longer rows tend to form in chain reactions.
        You can only move donuts to a position where it forms a valid row.
        Move the right donuts and you might cause a chain reaction where several rows of donuts form in rapid succession.
        Meeting the level quota
        You automatically win if you’ve cleared at least one of the target donuts for that level.
        The number of stars you receive depends on how many targets you’ve met.
        To receive a 3-star rating, you must meet all three quotas in the level.
        To unlock a level, you must earn at least one star per level.
        If you don’t meet any of the level’s quotas by the end of the timer, it’s game over.
        The game also ends when you run out of valid moves.
        Levels
        You play through 25 different levels.
        Unlike other connect-3 type games, the playing field is not always perfectly square.
        Some levels will have odd angles, while others will have large voids in the middle.
        Because of this, donuts will not always fall into a convenient location & match making gets harder as you get onto higher levels with more irregular shapes
        Strategy
        Clear the right number of rows and the game will clear all valid rows in rapid succession.
        These chain reactions can help you save time by clearing and regenerating donuts fast.
        This is vital for later levels where the quotas for specific donuts are high.
        The chains will take much of the effort needed to meet the quota.
        Focus on your target donuts.
        Clear other donuts if you need to bring your target donuts closer together.
        You can also clear valid sets of other donuts to bring in new donuts.
        Leave options open
        In some match 3 tile games you create super tiles by making matches of 4 or 5 in a row. This game does not do that, so leaving another easy connect three move after your current move so you can keep shifting the playing field around is more important than trying to make a streak of 4 or 5.
        Start high and work your way down.
        When you make moves it causes a chain reaction which impacts the playing field above it. So if you have easy sets aligned toward the top of the playing field match those first before making matches lower down, as when you make lower down matches it will rearrange the donuts above it.
        Donut selection
        Most donuts are bright and easy to see, making matching them easy. The one donut which is a bit harder to notice is the clear glazed donut, as it is a similar color to the level background.
        If you get off to a poor start or get the clear glazed and do not like it you can pause the game in the upper right corner and restart the level again.
        Level freezing
        The first dozen or so levels are quite easy to beat without much effort. When you get up into the 20s beating the levels is much harder and often goes right down to the wire. At the end of the levels if donuts are still in motion the game may freeze in some web browsers. Refreshing the page will restart the game and allow you to start back where you left off.
        Target Audience
        This game is suited for all audiences.
        It has no adult content.
